Anyone weaned a two year old?

Decided to wean dd who is just over 2. FOr the last few nights I have cut out any night feeds and feeding her just before bed and in the morning. SHe cries pitifully but I am strong!

The difficulty is during the day. I have been distracting her etc and want to cut down slowly but whilst I am ready to wean she isnt.

Any experience or words of wisdom?

How are you doing it?

I cut out day feeds first, with distraction and other food (but that was before 2)
Then morning feeds, by getting DP to leap out of bed and take DS straight downstairs for some VERY exciting play.
Then bedtime, by being out 3 nights in a row at bedtime and having DP put him to bed!

Dp works nights and I've hopefully got those cracked!

A friend put that no-bite stuff on her nipples, so they tasted bad. I think she told her daughter the milk had gone off.

I started at around 2 and did it really gradually. Was down to just bedtime feed by 2.4 I would say and got that one stopped by about 2.9.
He would have carried on for ages, I just decided I wasn't enjoying it so much. Didn't stop me putting him to bed though, just did a lot of explaining to him that he was a big boy and booby milk was for younger children. He still asked for it each night but didn't get frantic at all.

The stuff on the nipples thing doesn't sound very pleasant to me. But the friend who did it, tried loads of different ways to wean, including being away from her daughter for a week, none of which worked. She had a really hard time with it. So I don't really feel up to judging.

Um. She's a BFC. She's really fighting the good fight.

Her daughter still demands breastmilk if she sees me feeding DS2 in their house. Her mom suggested that her DD4 get milk off me, instead. She didn't go for it.

My ears are fine, now, I think. It never seems to last more than four or five hours. I still feel a bit out-of-sorts, but not dizzy any more, and I haven't had any nearly-falling-over fun for a while.

going well so far. DD didnt ask for milk on the bed and stirred a little in the night but didnt ask. THis morning she asked briefly but distracted her successfully till after breakfast.
