Milk at twelve months

Hi,
My little girl is coming up to twelve months. So far, she's been breastfed, but I want to give it up and move her onto cow's milk. She'll drink water from a cup and doesn't really know what to do with a bottle.
My questions are-- how much cow's milk will she need? When should I give it to her? How will I make sure she has enough? Warm or cold??
Thanks.
PS what does dd mean? I'm new to this!

Hi!

Give it to her when she would normall hev breast milk. Warm it enough just to take the chill off. If she's used to drinking out of a cup give it to her in a cup.

Can't remember how much a 1 yera old should have, but am sure someone will help.

DD=darling daughter and ds = darling son

snowgirl my ds was breastfeed til 13mths and didnt go for cows milk at all. so now at 15mths he just has water and the occasional juice.

they only way he takes milk is a little on porridge.

and for his calcium intake broccoli or yogurt are good.

i am not worried at all that he doesnt drink as much milk as my dd, as my friend has twin girls of 6 and they never went for c/milk after 9mths breastfeeding.

Dear/darling daughter for DD

If she doesn't know what to do with a bottle, then don't give her one! I'm in the situation of trying to get DD off the bloody thing!

Warm or cold is entirely your choice - she's used to warm from you, but if she'll drink cold then life will be easier.

With when to give - when you would normally breastfeed would be my bet.

How much? Give her some, and see if she wants more, if she doesn't then its enough

As long as she's getting dairy in other areas, then it isn't a big issue how much she has. You don't get all that much calcium from milk anyway....

Wow. Thanks everyone for all the helpful advice. I'd no idea mumsnet was so useful! I wish I'd got into it before now.
