Help needed!!!! My 10 month old son is refusing his milk, taking in 10 oz at the most in a day and thats with me using it in his breakfast and stuff like homemade rice pudding etc. He just refuses the bottle and wont use a beaker. It has turned into a daily battle. Juice is a similar situation but will take more juice with his meals. This is leading him 2 wake in the night wanting a drink. Not worried about the calcium intake as giving him other dairy such as yoghurts, cheese etc, but worried about his fluid intake. Any advice would be gratefully appreciated!!!!

My 7 month old DD is much the same blondie14. Is he definitely waking because of thirst? In the last few days my daughter has drunk more water than in the last 7 months. I've not actually done anything different, it seems she's just decided she'd like some. But nothing at all will get her to take more than about 3 ozs of milk at any one time. I've given up worrying (easier said than done I know). Is he still having wet nappies?

i shouldn't worry too much. don't turn it into a battle because that will make him not want to drink it.

make sure it is available... but don't push it.

i assume its thirst as he wont settle back down without a drink. with the amount he eats during the day it cant b hunger. Could i be feeding him 2 much so hes too full for his milk??? his nappies are wet, some more than others.

I've known a few toddlers to just go off milk in the same way. Do you offer him water to drink? Also offer "juicy" fruits (like oranges etc). One of my friend's children has never drunk milk at all. She bf until 10 months, and since then has a cup/bottle of water that she sips on when she feels the need.

Provided your ds is still weeing, then he is not dehydrated and should be fine.

I do offer him juice at meal times and sometimes during the day if hes not had any milk. He does drink a little but not as much as he would if he had his bottles. How much diary produce equals the 18 floz of milk he is supposed to have?
