Is Welling Racist?

Hello,

I would absolutely love some advice regarding this area. I have fallen in love with a gorgeous 3 bed house in Welling DA16 that I am itching to put a bid on. It even backs on to Danson Park. Bonus!
My concern is that Welling used to be home to BNP HQ and more recently UKIP have increased their seats in this area.
I have a 13 year old son who will be travelling to Camberwell Green to get to his Secondary School thus passing areas such as Eltham on the train. Is this area/ surrounding area racist? Are there still underlying racial tensions?
I have always lived in areas that are multicultural and rich in diversity and no absolutely nothing about Welling.

The property is so tempting but I wouldn't want to put my Son in jeopardy for the sake of a nice house.

Any feedback/guidance whatsoever would be highly appreciated.

By the way we are Black, hence my strong concerns.

Did you mean to post this in Bloggers' Chat or in the general Chat section, where it will get more traffic?

My knowledge of Welling is about 20 years old so I imagine others will have better info. The house sounds nice though.
