I want to wrap up my blog - is there any way of saving all the content I've written in its current format?

For many reasons I've decided to take down my blog. But, while I don't want it to remain live and I'm unlikely to want to post on it again (certainly in the near future), I put a huge amount of effort in it and I'd like to be able to refer back to it in the future. Is there any way of saving it but not having to pay for hosting it?

Sorry wrote this post ages ago then didn't follow it up because I suddenly got super-busy. Cbeebies thanks for your response. The platform is wordpress.

A friend of mine recently moved one site (merged it with another), both sites are done with wordpress. She just installed plugin and all the content but images was moved. It still require some work with images, like moving by ftp and changing links in all the posts. Or perhaps there are better plugins... And on the wordpress.com there are manual about content transfere.... so there is a way there as well.

Both Blogger and Wordpress allow you to export your content as an XML file. You should save your photos and graphics separately.

While the XML file should contain img links, you will probably have uploaded many of your graphics to the Blogger or Wordpress servers and will need to retain your own copies.
