Blogging Conferences 2012

southoftherivermum · 28/11/2011 14:14

I'd like the low-down on blogging conferences for 2012. I know there is no Cybermummy 12 and there is BritMums Live. I think there are others as well. Can you tell me who are the people behind the different conferences? I would like to go to one next year but I want to make sure it's the right one!
I look forward to hearing from you.
THanks
Milly

Basically, the team behind Cybermummy went their separate ways. One of them is running a conference called BlogHer and the others are running BritMums Live. As I understand it, BlogHer is aimed at female bloggers in general, rather than simply parent bloggers.

Also just announced is BlogCamp UK, which is run by Sally who started the Tots100 index. It runs in various parts of the UK, with a big conference in Birmingham in April. It's also free, which the other ones aren't (though a lot of bloggers seem to get sponsors rather than paying for themselves). I have been to two BlogCamp events, found them very useful and enjoyable, enjoyed the fact that the speakers were good, it was free and there was cake.

If you Google you'll see they've all got websites and you can judge from the agendas whether any of them is right for you. I'm not sure if I'll go to any - all the events have merits and minus points for me.

Hi Milly
Thanks for asking this. We were wondering the same thing too. It is quite hard to know which one is for us so will probably go on the agenda as Joanne suggests and also on which day is convenient for us.
It is obviously a lucrative market if so many people are setting up such events!

Hi,

Joanne was right up to a point. Sian (formerly CyberMummy) is running a conference but called CybHer NOT BlogHer (BlogHer is a big US conference and blog ad network).

I totally agree about Blogcamp - absolutely fantastic and having heard about some of the sessions, I'm confident in saying you'll come away with useful information as well as having time to make connections with other people. Best of all they keep it free for the blogger (unless you're staying and then they get reduced rate rooms for you).

Jo,
My conference is called Cybher - not BlogHer (that is the US conference).
Anyone with questions about Cybher... I'm happy to answer.
Sian

CybHer is 12th May in London. Here is the link for Sian's site - cybher.com/12/

Sadly I'll be in a caravan with my Mum & Nan that same day, sounds tempting doesn't it???
