Want to find something fairly short from my 4 yr old DD and 9 mo old DS, finding it very difficult to write our own.

I have a selection of poems I found on the internet when my son died. Here are a few, maybe they will inspire you...

Don't think of him as gone away, his journey's just begun
life holds so many facets this earth is only one.
Just think of him as resting, from the sorrows and the tears
in a place of warmth and comfort where there are no days and years.
Think how he must be wishing that we could know today
how nothing but our sadness can really pass away.
And think of him as living in the hearts of those he touched
for nothing loved is ever lost and he was loved so much.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

We think of you in silence

And often speak your name

But all that's left to answer

Is your picture in a frame.

If we could have one lifetime wish

One dream that would come true

We would pray to God with all our hearts

For yesterday and you.

And heartaches make a lane

We would walk our way to Heaven

To Be With You Again!

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

A heart of gold stopped beating
Two shining eyes at rest
God broke our hearts to prove
He only takes the best.

God knows you had to leave us
But you did not go alone
For part of us went with you
The day he took you home.

To some you are forgotten
To others just part of the past
But to us who loved and lost you
The memory will always last
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

A million times we've needed you
A million times we've cried
If love alone could've saved you
You would have never died
In life we loved you dearly
In death we love you still
In our hearts you hold a place
No one else could ever fill
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you didn't go alone
Part of us went with you
The day God took you home.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Maybe a short verse or couple of lines from one of these may be helpful.

WHAT IS DYING?

A ship sails and i stand watching till she fades on the horizon and someone at my side says
'' she is gone '' Gone where? Gone from my sight that is all;she is just as large as when i saw her . the diminished size and total loss of sight is in me not in her and just at the moment when someone at my side says''she is gone''
there are others who are watching her coming and other voices take up a glad shout''there she comes'' and that is dying.

Even though life goes on it dosen't change the fact your gone. when the flowers fade and the people have gone it dosen't change anything your still number one and when the days go cold and the nights go dark you will be forever in our hearts though were so far apart i know i will never be alone in the light or dark. never forget your still in our hearts for how long were apart.
