Games for a 7 month old

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone out there can recommend any fun or intersting things for me and my 7 month old to play/do.

He is extremely inquisitive and very frustrated at not being mobile. Just wondering if anyone has any little tips on making this a bit easier for him.

I think he gets bored of mummy's endless reditions of 'the wheels on the bus' and 'row row row your boat'! He loves banging on pans and generally making a noise which I don't mind if it makes him happy.

He seems to get bored really easily and gets grouchy. He loves being carried around whilst I tell him what we are looking at but this gets rather backbreaking as he is a chunky chappy now! He also likes swimming but he gets tired easily and feels the cold after about 40 mins.

If anyone has any new games or ideas on how to encourage my ds to interract and learn language skills then I'd be very grateful! (yes I know he's only 7 months and I'm not expecting him to talk or anything but I really am running out of new stuff to do with him and he refuses to just sit and look around like my friends babies!)

Thanks

Hi my dd is 17 months old now but she used to be like that when she was around 7 months old.

Always got bored easily with the toys she had and the games I played with her.

I bought her a mini keyboard and she loved playing with that.

Have you tried the vtech range? I found Grace learnt loads from them toys.

Thanks for the quick responses. I find he gets bored of me just rambling on to him, understandably so! He seems to need constantly changing environment and a fair bit of noise or music to keep him interested (he's a grumpy little oddball!)

I will look into the vtech range. Thanks!

you could always try local music groups for babies and toddlers.

My dd loved going to groups. I started taking her when she was seven months old. She loved watching all the older children. Tired her out completely

I too have an immobile 7 month old - it's hard going isn't it? He wants to look at everything and is happiest when I carry him from room to room. However he is the height of an average one-year-old (we are a tall family) and my back is done in! Not to mention the state my house is in cos I can't get any housework done at the moment....

He likes this though and will amuse himself in it for sometimes up to an hour. Pricey, but the best thing we've bought so far as he loves to 'stand'.

Baby einstein products are def really good aswell.

My dd had one of those and loved it too! Kept her amused for hours!

Thanks everyone, great suggestions. i have just purchased a baby einstein discovery station (cheap off ebay, just incase ds doesn't fall in love with it!)

I have also bought the baby einstein and bee bright baby dvds which are said to enterain and help their speach development. We'll see how it goes. If anyone else comes up with anything please let me know! Thanks x

That's great meandmyjoe... I'm sure your ds will love it, especially the novelty at first. Ebay was a very good idea, the only reason I bought one new was that we had a £20 gift voucher for toys R us, so it didn't seem quite so painful!

Have fun
