Hi everyone

I have a 6 month old who just last week was beginning to get into a good sleep routine and was showing signs of sleeping through the night with no feeds and was waking up just once or twice. Now, however, she is waking up every half hour to hour crying. I am shattered and just have no idea what it could be. she hasnt got any teeth yet,but how can i know for sure she is teething and rule out any other issues. She is also drinking gallons of water which is worrying me.

Any advice?

Sorry no advice but bumping and poss suggest you might get more focused replies if you post in the sleeping section. Feeling for you, [yawn emoticon]

Are you offering water instead of milk? She might be having a growth spurt and so feeding more, so try upping her milk. If she is teething, Calpol might help (it's the right age for it, but it can be really hard to tell before the first teeth actually pop though). Is he chomping on stuff as well?

i used to do the whole trial and error thing rub on teething gel and offer a feed as my ds had growth spurt and also was teething also

any redness to cheeks? chewing fist, more dribble than usual can you see white marks on bottom gums or any redness?

also before bed feed baby rice then milk helps setle for longer i would think teething at this age and feed should do the trick

no harm in giving both teething gel and feed if it means she'll settle

Thanks everyone for your replies.

I realised i had the wrong topic heding after posting and dont know how to move it to the sleep section.

DD had a growth spurt at 4 months so have ruled out a growth spurt as she doesnt really drink that much milk when we have offered it to her.

In regards to teething she does all the asscociated things ie bite down on things, chew her fingers, dribble etc. I have been using Bonjela but to no avail! I am fast running out of energy.

neurofen if she's teething but don't forget that there is a mother of all growth spurts around 6 months which can make them quite unsettled.....

having said that, waking half hourly sounds more like pain / being poorly. Perhaps try a dose of neurofen and see if that makes any difference at all.

Ahh i wasnt aware of the 6 month growth spurt....but still unsure as in previous growth spurts dd would feed a lot more frequently but this time its kind of gone the other way!

I have resorted to Calpol night which i used for 2 nights, that seemed to settle her quite well but am reluctant to keep giving it to her.

Man i didnt know motherhood would be this tough.
