my fourth child was born at same weight as my second, she has always been under the very bottom line on pink growth chart. never worried as i am only 5'2".
last year she started nursery, standing at shoulder height to classmates, took her to h.v just to shut people up " Aww aint she sweet and small" at four she clearly hears these comments, h.v got us appointment with brill doctor, she told me not to worry , she said my daughter was beautiful and healthy, just small, so i tell all who comment, just been back for 6 month check, same brill doctor now not sure thinks my girl should have all tests done. fair enough if something not right then make her right,,,but what if she just going to be small person, how do i know when they are genuinly concerned or just want to guinea pig her on growth pills

Sorry can't add much, but have you or your DH/P had in previous generations had similar.

I can only speak from the other end, I was one of the tallest in our year when i went to senior school at 5'1" unfortunly i didn't grow another inch so when i left school i was one of the smallest.

Lizziemum - same here. We had to stand in height order for assembly, and in the 1st year of high school I stood nearest the window. By the 3rd year I was right down the other end!

Udenz - they can see what her level of growth hormone is by a blood test. if it's normal then they won't recommend extra as it won't work. However they can also take x-rays of the wrist which will tell them her bone age as opposed to her actual age. My ds was always small (as am I). his growth hormone levels were normal, but his bone age is about a year younger than his actual age. Which means his height should be measured against the height of a child a year younger. So he went from 0.2 centile to 25th!!!! he will just grow a bit later than others his age.

im tallish (5'8) exh is 6'1 dd1 was always seen as tall, she is 18 now and 5'6. dd2 was the tiniest child she had the nickname little legs all her primary school life. she is 16 now and is 5'7. she had her growth spurt at around 13 years.

i think they all grow differently and i wouldnt worry too much. have you tried measuring her against a doorframe or simular once a month? as long as she is growing all should be ok. good luck
