Good to really bad - teething?

Hi

My 6mo ds has been teething for quite a while now, but has been coping with it. Until yesterday where for whatever reason it seems to have went to a new level, that is very little sleep(up 5 times during tyhe night), wants held all the time, not eating at all well, and crying most of the day and night. Tried all the usual things, medicine, teethers, ashton and parsons, bonjela with no real effect.

Guess my questions centre around, how we know it is teething if he has been doing it for so long anyway? Have others had varying levels of this? If so, is it potentially related to the teeth getting closer to coming through?

Timing couldn?t be worse as it was my first day back at work today, and easily his worst night's sleep since birth!! Back to a shift system for me and dp me thinks.

Any info greatly appreciated.

J

I find the teething is only horrendous for the one or two days/nights that the tooth is actually breaking through the skin of the gum.
