I am a podiatrist (foot specialist) and have to reassure all parents of young children that most foot and leg problems do correct themselves over these early years, any intervention now may cause more problems, so indeed as your Dr. suggests wait and see if the condition exacerbates or diminishes over the next few months, much can be achieved with orthoses/insoles which aren't obviously pronounced in a shoe. Good luck

Thanks Footdoctor. That's reassuring. My DS had just been diagnosed with this and thats the advice I was given too. I'd beem worried as he had a odd gait but now knowing what it is happy to wait and see.
