We are on the waiting its for and autism/add assessment for my dd aged 8, she doesn't have friends, doesn't interact well with people, lacks focus, appears agitated a lot of the time and is having problems at school and home (and dancing and Cubs...)

I'm looking at getting a private ados assessment done has anyone done this before, can you reccomend anyone? How much did it cost? Am I barking up the wrong tree?

Thanks Frog x

Hello! I've no direct experience - but you might find better responses in the SN board here?

It depends what you want the diagnosis for. We got two of our children diagnosed via the NHS. Our six year old has an ehcp and did so a year and half before her diagnosis. My youngest is three and a half and we are in the process of applying for an ehcp and she had her diagnosis in June. I've found an ehcp is based on needs rather than a diagnosis. Also some LEA's prefer them to be from the NHS.

An educational health care plan. Its been brought in to replace what was a statement. So basically a document detailing the needs of your child, targets and strategies.

We don't have one of those. We have asked. We have a meeting about her iep? But school are struggling with her, as are we. She came home tonight and said I just want to have a friend. It's heartbreaking
