Having mojor problems back at school for 8yo DS .... anyone else got a hyperactive one in the same position????

Please give me some words of wisdom. Son is hyperactie ... school spotter it 18mo ago but have pretty much figure it out (as if) some time ago. They are really helpful or have been in past but husband refuses to get him diagnosed so we struggle on. But going back to school last year his behaviour has gone off the charge. He is so emotional and reactionary and there is just no being reasonable. Anyone in same position? Do you think it's just the change? I'm really worried he's being pounced on by some boy that gave him grief last year :-( ......
