my baby is 16 months old hes not talking well baby talk. can say mum dad ball he probably only says them words every few days or so the rest is baby talk. im not really worried.

hes also no walking again im not really worried.

but his dad and grand parent say that me and the kids are making him lazy because he kind of grunts or baby talks and points at things then someone get it for him. although when we give him things we do say what it is as we give it to him.

also he crys and throws little tantrums not over the top just frustration. but if i pick him up put him on my lap he stops. his dad and grandparents say there is nothing wrong with him hes just doing it so he gets picked up and its making him lazy.. im not sure if this is true.

i think he crys because yes he does want to be picked up and sit on lap but he cant say hey could you please pick me up as i would like a bit of company. so he tells us in the only way he knows how.

and they keep saying hes always crying. :( to me hes not. i think hes quite happy but it makes me feel like my son is a miserable git.

Sounds like a normal 1 year old.

Even those who can talk at 16 months is usually fairly limited so many get frustrated

I would just carry on as you are

Perfectly normal

Dd didn't walk until 18 months but she could speak instead

Ds has only just started walking in the last month so he was 16 and a half months. He says the odd word but it's mostly baby babble

As a comparison, mine both walked before 1, neither talked until 2 years though. Both were super shy until around 3 years. They are now happy running, talkative and not shy at school age
