What age do babies normally roll onto their fronts?

I know all babies are different but I just wondered roughly how many months they are when they start to roll over onto their front. DS is 5 months and hasn't showed any interest in even trying to roll, and he really doesn't like it if I put him onto his front - he lasts a couple of seconds before putting his face in the carpet and crying. My friend's baby is rolling over at 4 months - just wondered when other people's LOs did this?

my ds is just 5 months and hated being on his front! i mean HATED it! however in a space of one week he has started throwing a paddy and turning on his side, now he can roll onto his front - done it for the 1st time today! he gets stuck on his arm though so is still getting annoyed with himself!

Arh bless! Its incredible how quickly they develop! Had you used to put him on his front even though he didn't like it to get him used to it? Not sure whether to just leave DS on his back and hope he eventually wants to roll over?

varies hugely. I can't remember dd ever really rolling she could cruise and sit before she could actually get herself up, but ds could roll over from his stomach to his back from birth, and the dts could roll from back to stomach at only a few weeks old.

dd could roll between 1 and 2 months, but then 'forgot' how to, and only started rolling at 9 months when she would throw herself on the floor from sitting.

Don't worry about comparisons - my DS rolled over at around 4 months and hauled himself across his playmat. It was his last milestone for a long time... he couldn't sit unaided until 10 months and didn't walk until around 17 months. Lazy blighter if you ask me!

i very rarely put him on his front to be honest because he hated it o much. once a week at the most, and even then only for 1 minute maximum!

dd1 - 13 months before she rolled over! Like your ds she hated being on her front, so I left it and let her do it when she was ready. Dd2 and ds rolled over at a few months old - can't remember what age but probably around 6 months

My DC did it at about 7 months - and that was when they started to sleep through the night..Turns out that (like me!) they hated sleeping on their backs, where of course I dutifully put them on advice from Health Visitor! So all that time I was frantically trying to find the magic formula to get 'em to sleep, and after that they were fine. When they did roll over, I put them in a sleeping bad, as otherwise they tended to get tangled up in the covers and wake up cold.

dd rolled at 11.5 months - it was the same time she started to crawl. I worried myself sick about it but what's the point - there's nothing we can do about it. She was walking two months later.
I'm now worried she'll never talk (16 months) - but I'm sure she'll prove me wrong again!!!!
