Bad shopkeepers who hate kids!

I need to moan about my local shop's attitude to my kids and me! I find the owner so petty. 3 yrs ago with just DD in a small buggy, after shopping there for about 1 year, he suddenly says he wants me to leave my child at the door (where people tether dogs fgs!). OK, it's a small shop and the till is right by the door, but it's not nice to leave your kids alone is it?
I went in very rarely after that, but on the rare occasion I went in there'd be mums pushing their babies in buggies, and he hadn't yet said anything to them. Then he shouted at me one time for moving something in his precious fridge so I could reach something else, then again for something very similar! That was the last straw, I ended up boycotting the place for about a year. Well, I foolishly started going in again occasionally, now with a tandem buggy which I parked at the door (if he was in - otherwise I took them around with me! No-one else seemed to mind, just him). Today, in there for about 3 minutes doing a quick shop, with my children left at the door (inside of course) without mummy (and they are good kids) he comes up to me and says "can you make him stop that." - my DS, 2 1/2 yrs old, was kicking the footrest on his own pushchair, nothing more. I said that to him - "He's only kicking his own pushchair!" He said there are people in here trying to shop! What the f* did he think I was doing in there! How the hell am I supposed to stop him if I can't have him with me! At that point I put my basket down, said "forget it" and told him I had boycotted the shop for a year before, and he was the most un child-friendly shopkeeper I had come across. Anyone else had similar experiences? Shan't give him any of my money again for sure!

I just boycott shops like that. I didn't go in our our local Boots for a couple of years as I couldn't get the doors open when I had the double buggy - they've got a new door now so they are lucky enough to have my custom again

Ther's a shop round the corner (discount - cheapy shop type place) that has a sign that says "no pushchairs" so I never go in there on principle

Blimey Tommy, are they actually ALLOWED to say "No Pushchairs"? I bet that is illegal, even if it is simply because of recent disability rulings, do they allow wheelchairs? Sounds as dodgy as this Spar!

I have no idea tbh, it's a bit of an odd shop - not like I'm really going to miss going in there!

i used to be a shopkeeper!!

i sold plants and flowers (mostly) and never minded the children touching them.....as long as they were doing it gently. the only time i used to get annoyed was if children were being destructive, and then i was annoyed with the parents for not intervening.
how are children supposed to learn to conduct themselves in public if they are never allowed to touch things.

i work in retail and i 've got a collegue who whinges about babies crying(to us not the parents) and tells people off if their kids touch things. it's very embarassing. she has a terrible attitude and you almost feel like apologising to her for daring to breed!

Thing is he wasn't touching anything, he was just banging his heels against the footrest on his & his sister's buggy!

I bet you no-one else shopping in there was particularly bothered, anyway, how was I supposed to stop him and still leave him at the door? By remote control?
