Starting teething at 2 months? Help!

DS (9 weeks) has been rather ratty for the past few days - feeding frequently, dribbling a lot, grumbling between feeds - and the HV suggested he has started teething, tho prob no teeth for a while yet. Have got some powders and some gel, but is there anything else I can do? The worst thing is that he's started waking every 2 hrs again at night, just when he's started to go a bit longer . Tell me this won't go on for months...

Awww - sympathy!! My dd1 started teething at 2 months and then got a tooth per month until she was 20 months old. Absolutely awful! But, on the positive side, at least we got it over and done with quickly. Lots of medised, teetha, and love and hugs (mostly for me!) and you get through. DD2 hasn't a tooth in her head at 6 months and I'm much more worried about her!

Hi SWizzler, my DD is 3 months and has been teething for a bit (hard isn't it) sounds too like your LO is going through a growth spurt as teething usually drops an appetite,My DD had growth spurt aound 9 weeks

Thanks for the responses - DS now asleep and seems happier, so perhaps he was overtired as well? We tried the powders and they seem to help. I hope this doesn't go on for months and months!

He's not necessarily teething. DD wat exactly like that, as were her 2 older brothers and they had no teeth until 10 months old.

Personally I think that everything is put down to teething when actually they're just being babies Frequent feeding will generally be a growth spurt (and if the baby's breastfeeding, it's done to build up your milk supply to meet their new needs)

I'm a bit confused re the growth spurt, as DS had one at about 6 weeks and I didn't think we were due another for a while. He is growing fast tho (nearly doubled his birth weigh already ) so it wouldn't surprise me.

I agree that this sounds a lot like a growth spurt. Dd went through a similar thing at that age and she is still completely toothless at nearly 9mths old.
