I've three kids. Two bang on 50 percentile height and weight and consistently there since about a year old. My 5 year old was enormous as a baby but has slimmed down but still tall. He's now 91st percentile height, 50th percentile weight. Would it worry you? He eats loads of fruit. Has school dinners and then a dinner at home too so not starving him.

Bmi calculator puts him as healthy weight.

I don't think it's anything to worry about as long as he is healthy & eating well, which it sounds like he is. Lots of children are on a different percentile for weight than they are for height, and as far as I'm aware there isn't anything to worry about as long as they stay roughly on their own percentiles.

All three of my sons were like this as children. Much taller than average, but very light in relation to their heights. They are in their late teens & early twenties now & are all tall & slender.

I think you're probably right. He's been wandering around in the nude this evening and he doesn't look any skinnier than his siblings. You can see his ribs and his legs are thin but not noticeable. I suppose at this age a few pounds is all it takes because they're so small.

Its just weird because he used to be such a solid looking toddler.

Why would you be worried if bmi calc says he's a healthy weight?

Mine have all had fairly higher height percentiles than their weight %tile.

My sturdy toddler and solid teenager (14 years old almost 6 foot and not fat, but broad across the shoulder etc) was a tall skinny 5 year old - it's really the only time in his life he has been what you would call skinny - again not underweight but not in character for his previous or future build. No idea why. My elder DS was always slim and at 15 is 6'2 and has a 32 inch waist to DS2s 34/35. He went through a period of being chubby at age 11/12 but stretched out of it again. I think they do change shape from time to time. I'd only be concerned if he dropped below a healthy weight or wasn't eating well/had no energy etc.
