How much and what does your baby eat?

DD is my fourth and to be honest have no recollection of what to do. She generally just has what everyone else is having.

She's seven months and seems to eat a huge amount. She is very little and doesn't sleep through (not that any of them do really!)so maybe she just needs it? I also know I'm not as good on the bones of nutrition as o was with the others so realise her diet isn't ideal. Today she had:

BF when she woke
Porridge with formula and some dried apricot (poos ever so slightly stiff at the moment otherwise I wouldn't add)
Two oatcakes with nut butter, half an avocado, cucumber chunks and a drink of formula (trying to get this going but not really interested.
Three little spinach and sweet potato pies, an ikea kids bowl full of cous cous with a bit of formula mixed in, some broccoli.

So would love to hear what and how much other babies eat.

I also have a 7 month old. He's exactly average weight, but only 25th centile for age - and doesn't sleep through.

Yesterday:
Breakfast:
Half slice wholemeal toast with fruit puree spread
Half mashed banana

Lunch:
Half a scrambled egg
4 cucumber slices

Snack:
2x thin slices apple
Baby rice cake

Dinner:
Chicken casserole - 2 tiny cubes of chicken/ few pieces of carrot
Broccoli trees
Small potato mashed on its own (nothing added)

Dessert:
Half fromage frais
------
Sunday:

Breakfast:
Baby porridge
Thin slice apple

Dinner:
Half yorkshire pudding
Small potato mashed (nothing added)
Cabbage
Carrots
Runner bean

Dessert:
Small scoop ice cream

Tea:
Baby Rice Cake
Sliced cucumber
Half mashed banana

He has about 24 ounces of formula milk per day on top of meals. He drinks water too.
I spoke to HV regarding his diet and she thought it was good. She encouraged me to try him with what we eat for dinner, so this week he will be trying some pasta and couscous Smile . So far he eats anything, and I hope he continues to !

That's really interesting. I thought she was eating loads for her age but it looks about the same/slightly less maybe.

5 month old DD:
Sleeps through from 7-7, with 3 naps in the day ( currently on a 2.5 hour nap!)
5x 7 oz bottles
1oz milk from her breakfast bottle with half a rusk at 8.30 am due to reflux
She's just under the 25th centile but off the centile for length! Tall and skinny like her daddy, not her short arse of a mum Grin

That doesn't sound loads to me. A fine amount and a good diet too!
Good job op!

Really? I think with my others I was more efficient in getting vegetables into them.

Are they supposed to be having much dairy at this point? Sometimes she has a bit but am wary it's a bit harsh on the stomach.

madding I asked my HV about the dairy. She said they are still getting all their nutrients from milk (providing they are still drinking over a pint), but to still try and have something dairy based every day - even if it's just a yoghurt.

My son loves cauliflower cheese, and I tried him with a tiny bit of cheese on it's own today, which he also enjoyed. I'm not big on dairy myself, I don't even eat butter or margarine, so I'm really conscious that he has it sometimes.

Is all this dairy stuff outdated though? Youngest DS just came home from nursery and for tea had cheese and tuna sandwich, yoghurt and milk and I imagine cheese and lunch, plus he had porridge this morning.

It seems like 'institutions' are obsessed with getting dairy into children but is it all really necessary? Dairy isn't that great to have a lot of.

Madding I think it's a bit of a calcium drive on their part.
