Cartwheels!!

How do I teach my DD (who's 5) to do cartwheels?And handstands? i was always rubbish at doing either and she is trying so hard and getting nowhere! is she too young? I know this might be a tricky thing to explain without a demonstration but any tips would be appreciated by this desperate mum!

Legs straight and go slow and in a straight line (cartwheels). Place one hand down and the second hand in line with that one. Legs straight and over!

Handstands.... practise against the wall first.

i know how the movements go but i dont know how to get her to actually get her legs in the air! not helped cause she's too scared to trust her arms and actually lift her legs!

hold her legs as she does a handstands and that should help her confidence!

I wouldn't have a clue about teaching cartwheels as I can't do them myself. Handstands can be taught using a cushion under their head and legs against a wall. Encourage her to try and lift her body weight up or you can let her do the handstand while you hold her legs to support her weight.
I dread to teach DS as that will be another way to give me a heart attack!

Kid thats exactly how i feel! the worry of teaching her how to do these things was only outweighed by the damage i nearly did to myself trying to do a headstand against our bedroom wall earlier this eve! Think at 32 i'm a bit too old for such carrying on!

I'd like to think I could still do a handstand if I wanted to, I'm not going to try it though (well not while anyone is looking!)

I can cartwheel and do a headstand but my arms can't hold my body weight for long!
My DS just learnt to do them him self!
Don't know if this helps?

thanks TC! we've had that website on but no success yet! we'll keep trying! am going to ask every friend i know if they can do them so i can get someone else to teach her!
