2yo hates toe nails being cut

I mean hates hates hates!!

Screams like he's being tortured and the only way to clip those claws is to restrain him which we hate doing.

In stark contrast, he will sit with hands out for a manicure to do his fingers.

He is otherwise quite happy, obedient and stress free.

Tips please!

Sorry. No tips! Mine was the same. I always thought the neighbours would think I was murdering him he screamed so much.
He's 8 now. No problem!

While they are young, we do it when they are asleep.

Watching as my 20month old is exactly the same.

In front of him. Cut your own, cut daddy's, nanny's, baby's, the cat's etc. my ds used to always ask, 'my nails, my nails' if we did this.

Or try any, or all, of these things:

Telly on, book to read, bowl of sweets, someone else reading a story, ipad. Etc.

My SIL used to do it when they were asleep.

Sorry no miracle tips just sympathy! Our DS has some sensory issues and even now at age 7 makes a huge fuss at having his toenails cut (sorry!). Only thing that works is distraction such as a game in the iPad, get him to dangle his legs over a chair and I sit on the floor and do it, iPad blocks his view and distracts him. Also praise after each toe for sitting still with a reward at the end (bribery!)

Oh and do it after a bath so the nails are nice and soft

Agree with Deankoontz.
Do it whilst distracted;eating/drinking /TV and make a big thing of cutting everyone elses too.
I bought some children's scissors from Tweezerman on Amazon which are tiger-striped and blunt. They have been very popular wirh my 3.

I meant scissors for childrens' nails, not for children to use!

Thanks all.

We've tried doing it while he's sleeping, but he wakes up every time we try....he is impossible to wake otherwise!

Have also tried distraction to no avail.

Hadn't thought to cut daddy's toes, will give that a go, thanks Dean.

My DS is the same. He's laud back so not tantrums but what for him is a big fuss. I think he has ticklish feet. I get DS to sit with him between his legs and hold him. I then hold ankle and do the evil deed as quickly as possible at the same time telling him that he is a big grown up boy.
