DS is 2.1 and has been going to speed therapy for the last 3 months, we are based in asia due to DH work so am interested to know what activities your children so at speech therapy and how it compares to where we are.

DS is just starting to talk but is very unclear, no one can really understand him except myself and my husband. He doesn't use his lips and tongue properly so a lot of words a missing the beginning of the sound, eg lion becomes ion. Therapists are manipulating his mouth and getting him to blow bubbles, bits of paper etc and even giving him chewy sweets. We are asked to put sticky things like honey round his lips at home to encourage tongue movement.

If you could share the activities that your children do would be greatly appreciated, would love to know if we are on the right track here. Thanks

hi, my little boy is 3.5 and has a speech disorder. There is a game they do with him at nursery called Mr Tongue which gets them to move their tongue, you can google it. I read drinking through a straw is good too. blowing bubbles and popping them and saying 'pop'. There is something called cued articulation you can watch on youtube to show you how to practice speech sounds. He is maybe a bit young for it though - my little boy is still not keen on exercises though his speech is getting better.
