I really can't cope with the state the bedroom is in. dd & ds are in same bedroom and although he is the younges he is the ring leader. He is out of bed more than he is in it, they trash the bedroom, every toy, puzzle, book off the shelves.

This morning I found most of dd's clothes on floor discovered why earlier on, under the rail are the winter clothes, ds stands on these and latest trick is to swing like a monkey on the pole.

They are driving me insane so after threating them he's gone in the cot to which he is saying "me no like it in cot" but whats a woman supposed to do?

Oh,my ds (24 mths) will be in his cot for a good long time to come, precisely because of this.

completely agree with your plan! will be keeping my ds (1.11) in cot forever as the slightest freedom in his room or his dsis room he wrecks havoc and i spend enough time clearing up after them downstairs !

but the reason we put him into a bed was because he was climbing out of the cot so safer in a bed

oh, I know where you're coming from... we lock ds (2.5) in his room. Forgot to lock his door last week and he went into dd1's room in the middle of the night and emptied her wardrobe and chest of drawers all over her floor.
His room looks like a bomb exploded in it, I don't even bother tidying it at the moment. I think I might just box everything up.

The dds never did this.

we didn't really have much choice re. cot / bed. He was climbing out of his cot with ease at 25 months old.

Good plan, keep on it until it stops working. NO child has been harmed for staying longer in the cot, and I'm sure they will get over it when they no longer fit in it.

oh never thought of the climbing out of cot situation - my dd didnt do that so hope ds doesn't - anyway you can get a lock for cupboard/wardrobe and keep the majority of things in there and lock it each night??

i meant "could you" get a lock on the wardrobe?

Report
longwaytogo · 24/07/2006 21:55

nope we can't get a lock for wardrobe as its kinda open plan at the min, built wardrobes into alcoves with shelves along chimney breast but can't afford the sliding doors so no easy answer there

what a pain - i get fed up when bedrooms are trashed as i like to keep them nice - although its usually other peoples children who empty everything out of dd's room your LO's don't come to my house do they? -
i would maybe be either inclined to let him do it and leave it all OR put the messiest things (jigsaws etc) in boxes and put outside the bedroom door of evening and maybe put a stairgate at the door so they cant get out??? really feel for you - i hate mess

we completly gutted the bedroom on sat as every jigsaw was out of box etc etc a lot has now been moved and sorted and thrown out so a bit better, but it was when he was swinging from the wardrobe rail i just had to laugh he really is a little monkey.

in some ways its easier that their bedroom is downstairs at least we dont have to keep trapsing up and down stairs to see to them but the older two are not the best at not talking/shouting in the hall way

well I hope your a bit more sorted now - i spend my days just following my lo's around cleaning up after them - hence the nickname!

at least you can see the humour in it - boys are more of a handful arent they but amusing with it [
