9 Month Old Behaving Oddly - Please Help...

My ds is 9 months old, and has recently started doing a strange thing. He lies on his tummy and kind of lifts his bottom then pushes his pelvis down into the carpet IYSWIM. Whilst doing this his head is on one side and he has a far-away expression on his face. I can only think that he has (ahem) discovered that his willy can make him feel nice. The thing is, he does seem to be doing it rather a lot. My question is - should I stop him doing it? Does anyone else's baby do a similar thing? Please help - I'm finding it slightly worrying, thanks.

DSs both used to be on all fours "humping" away when they were learning to crawl.

Thanks for the advice - I was beginning to think it was a bit odd to say the least..the worst thing about it is when he does it in front of other people, dp's Mum for example.

dd did a 'version' of this, sitting on her bottom, rocking backwards and forwards with a blissful faraway look. It was SO obvious what she was doing! We took no notice at all. It's nice they can feel pleasure without hang-ups at this age. If anyone else has a problem with it, it's their problem not the childs.

I know it's not quite as embarrassing, but my ds (3.5) loves to turn around in circles until he's so dizzy he falls over and whacks his head on the ground. And then he gets up and does it all over again.

to SoupDragon and SofiaAmes.

Evita, I quite agree, its nice that babies/children don't have any taboos. A rather insensitive friend of mine commented on what he was doing the other day, saying something along the lines of "dirty wee man".
