Wet dreams!?

Im asking for a freind (honest!) She went into her little boys bedroom to make sure he was ok before she went to sleep (he is 4, nearly 5) and found that the top of his blanket was damp, (he sleeps naked) anyway on closer inspection she found that it wasnt spilt juice or wee, if you get my drift! Can boys this young have wet dreams? This is fairly relevant to me too as my own ds is nearly 4. Any help/tips or own experiences greatly received!

why does he sleep naked at that age? Doesn't he get cold?

could it be a discharge ie infection????

I have just been to a puberty meeting at school for ds1 and we watched the video he will be shown and in that it says boys don't start producing semen until puberty, so I don't think they can have wet dreams. Erections yes, but I wouldn't have thought wet dreams. But I might be wrong.

Boys can't have wet dreams until they start producing semen - ie until puberty. Whatever it was she found on his blanket won't have been that.

Naked beacause he was hot due to recent (if brief) summer. infection - could be will suggest! and no i didnt think they had them until puberty either but im assured that this wet patch smelt of semen.

Kanga, that wouldn't be the only symptom, nor would it be the first, I wouldn't have thought.

It only crossed my mind when she said her friend had said it smelt like semen! otherwise i can not really think what else it could be Milk maybe i dunno?

BB are you suggesting the father!?! good god no! She smelt it cos she thought it might be juice and not wee as he hasnt wet the bed for a long time, but he has recently started to fiddle with his bits (normal size i believe!) alot more than normal-is this just a new stage, he has as well just started at school-could this have something to do with it?

I asked about the size cos of pernicious puberty, sounds like it is not this though

I reckon prob infection

i didn't think semen smelt of anything particularly!

my ds1 age 5 is always playing with his bits in bed, i have never come across any unexplained substances on his bed.

is she sure it smelt like semen???

could it be snot??? (vile i know, but he is only achild)

Report
sparlover · 15/09/2005 21:24

when you say the "top of his blanket".... surely if it was semen it would be underneath by his bits (or on the bed)

it could have been snot or dribble

Report
swiperfox · 15/09/2005 21:25

Could it not have just been a dribble of wee?

Report
saadia · 15/09/2005 22:15

could it be sweat, sometimes ds wakes up with his face and hair all damp when he's hot.

nickiey · 16/09/2005 07:42

when i say top of blanket i mean, as the blanket is laying on him (he on his back) the underside of the top blanket. And she is fairly certain that it was semen and not wee-I think I had better get her to go to the doctor, I was hoping you lot would tell me its perfectly normal but it seems that it might not be so common

i would say it was wee. if he had been drinking a lot it wouldn't particularly smell

if she is adamant that it is semen then it isn't her sons
