I like this but a lot of people dont. Why not? (I mean Puddleduck is ancient now and i think more of Hannah's helpline associated with ducks.)

I just don't like the way it sounds for some reason, sorry. I like Jennifer and Juliet more.

It makes me think of puppets. No idea why, but that's why I don't like it - it has a puppety feel.

If you're my age the associations are Jemima Puddleduck and Jemima the doll from Playschool.

It's a lovely name. I know a 12yr old called Jemima and she never has any problem re: puddleduck.

Now I realise how uncultured my childhood was - I never thought of Puddleduck, only the ragdoll from playschool.

My best friend (now in her late 20s) is called Jemima. As far as I remember from being at school together, she was never teased. I'm yet to meet another Jemima which adds to the unique yet not too off the wall factor of the name.

I've always known her as Mima (sounds like my-mer as opposed to mee-mer) though during our adult life she's always been known by her full name.

I say go for it!

Lovely name. We have it on our shortlist if we have a girl.

I LOVE it! We had it on our short list for DD. I do know a Jemima who is lovely and whose name gets shortened to Jem. What a gem!

I'm not keen on Jem either but if we want a shortened version will go for Mima as someone else said.

Dd2 is called Jemima. I'm so pleased we chose it! Nearly five years later I'm still in love with the name.
