Getting popular now? I quite like it (would probably shorten to FLorrie), also like Maisie. Already have a Tom so want something classic and not too Railway Children....

Sorry, not very clear what my question is! Is Florence a common name now?

I really like it - although not so keen on Florrie.

Know 1, sister of Reuben

DC2 will be Florence if a girl. It's growing in popularity but I don't think it will ever be a 'grace'.

We will use Floss as a nn

I think it is getting quite popular, but I don't know any. I really like Florrie, but as a little girls name. Florence I'm a bit mixed on.

Yes, seems to be getting popular, although not at all to my tastes.

Love it! It's top of our list at the moment, but hoping it doesn't get too popular, although if we use it, it probably will, as have a Grace and an Eva

Lovely name.

And wrt to popularity, I think it depends very much on your local area - I see a fair few names in this section where people say 'oh that's not very commonly used' and they're ten a penny in these parts.

I think it's becoming more popular thanks to Florence + The Machine, just as Ruby did a few years ago. It's a family name, and I quite like it, but feel it sort of dates the whole FATM thing. Imvho.

I don't know any Florences. I think it's a lovely name.

What do you think of Maisie? I think a Maisie would be a real laugh for some reason - I can imagine her personality really easily

Yes, she's all of those things and more, muddler - it's a fab name imo

I like the name Florence a lot. I don't think it is too popular, although it is definitely increasing in popularity. I guess popularity is as subjective thing though, as some are happy with a name outside the top 10 and other may want something outside the top 500!
I'm not keen on Maisie myself and it seems quite different to Florence is style.
Either would sound nice with Tom.

Love Florence, it's an Aunt's name and would have used it if ever we'd had a dd2. She was always known as Florrie as a girl, which I think is really sweet. As an adult, with a "grown-up" job she simply let everyone know she'd prefer "Florence" and now it's hard to imagine her as anything else. Go for it, it's a great name, but use Florrie rather than Flossie.
