My DH is keen on naming DS2 (if it is a boy) James, which is DS1's middle name. i think its wierd...what does everyone else think?
Also another idea of his is naming DS2 Joseph, while I am a Jo...so there will effectively be 2 Jo's in the house...and i really don't want to become Big Jo to his Little Jo! Tho DH insists Joseph would be Joseph and not Jo...I know how much he loves to shorten names tho, so not buying that plan. thoughts on that one too folks ?

There was a discussion about using sibling's middle names as first names for another baby - scroll back a couple of pages, it was quite long !

Personally I think it is absolutely fine !!

If you're known just as 'Jo' then it might be a little confusing later on (as even if DH calls him Joseph, chances are his friends/their parents will call him Joe at some point) - but it isn't wierd, so do it if you like, especially if Jo isn't your own nn anyway.

I wouldn´t use James as a first name tbh.
Hamish?

But I might consider Joseph as a middle name.

Our son has his dad´s middle name, so I think it would be lovely for a boy to have his mothers name as a middle name, iyswim.

thanks anya4, just read thru one of the other threads on subject of ds1 middle name for ds2.
on balance i think i still dont like the idea. i think the resounding thing for me is the younger one sharing or being handed down older ones name - could be an issue for both of them at some stage. esp older one, given that he will have to see dc2 using all his old gear ... cot, buggy etc, and that he might feel a bit sidelined anyway.
my gut feeling is not to do it.
and i'm sure that we cna find some other name that we both love.
i love noah at the moment but dh is not 100% convinced...we both seem to like ewen too...we'll see...will prob end up being a girl !

I think it´s the idea that you chose 2 names for your first child, then couldn´t be bothered for your second, and gave them one of their siblings names rather than 2 of their own.

Love Noah!

Noah Joseph?
