Baby names

Elisha

We have decided to call our son Elisha, but haven't decided on any middle names yet.

We already have Matthew Caleb and William Titus in our family, so these names are out. Any other suggestions that sound good with Elisha will be gratefully received.

Thanks

oops, missed the point, does it need to be a biblical name?

No, it doesn't need to be biblical. I just have to like it

Glad its for a boy - I was perplexed the first time I saw a girl called Elisha (pronounced El-ee-sha though not El-eye-sha as in Elija and Elisha the prophets)

Anyhow, I think Elisha needs something short and not too vowelly, like James

it's pronounced ee-lye-sha

although i agree, you may get a lot of peoiple thinking it's pronounced like aleesha and assuming he is a she

Ooooh, I really like Nicholas and James. Both very good names.

I'll suggest to DH when he gets home.

BTW, we will be pronouncing it ee-leye-sha not aleesha, hopefully it won't be too tough for people to remember.

Hmmm....

Turns out our Elisha might be a girl after all!!

We still like the name and are thinking either 'Ellie' or 'Lily' for short. I really like the middle name 'Rose', but DH has just pointed out that he thinks the yellow elephant on 'Penelope' (from 'show me show me').

Anyone else think that's a problem?

There are a gazillion Ellies and Lilys....

How about Alice or Alicia?

Report
Gracie123 · 10/05/2010 09:09

I know it's popular, but I like it. I also think she could be an 'Elle' when she is older and wants to be a bit more grown-up.

Unfortunately when I hear Alice or Alicia all I can think of is Alicia Silverstone in 'clueless' and that hideous 90s fashion!!!

p.s. 'Lily-rose' is the elephant apparently. I'm not sure anyone else would connect this, but DH is not so sure.

Would you have thought of it?

Rose is great as a middle name. When baby is born in July we have picked Martha Rose if it is a girl. Sounds nice and goes with just about everything.

Our baby is due July too!

We also like the middle name Mae.
