I think it can be all of them but I would use Abi personally.

Abi.

I know someone who spells her full name Abigail but 'shortens' it to Abbey.

if there full name is Abigail, then go for Abi if it's a name to be used in its own right then I'd pick Abbie.

Hmmm ok, I use Abi but it occurred to me during a visit to Toysrus that most things that have children's names on (mugs pencils etc, my older 2 love all that crap ) spell it Abbie and I wondered if I'd been spelling it wrong IYSWIM.

All totally superficial in the grand scheme of things I know

My name is Melanie, as a child I was forever disappointed that I couldnt get stickers/mugs/pencils with my name on

I wanted to be Melissa - loads of stickers with that one!!

I think Abbie looks prettier. Abi is more logical, but it looks incomplete.

Melanie is a lovely name. It's one everybody overlooks just because it's associated with another generation.

I am thinking of using Abbie - agree it looks nicer and she is mostly called Abbie not Abigail.
