I like it, it's my sisters name. Her nicknames as a girl were Mima and Minkins. Now she is known as Jem or Jemma

we have a Jemima - we're certainly not posh, never had any negative comments (well not to my face). gets shortened to Mima, Mimi, Jimjams etc etc but think will always be Jemima, unlike her sister who is Harriet but seems forever known as Hattie.

I think you would have to like the name Jem, as more then likely she'd be called this even if you don't want her to be called Jem.

Imogen was our name if DS has been a DD

Jemima does remind me of Playschool but it could be worse, you could want to call her Hamble (the fugly doll)
