Names can really alter your perception of someone eh? Bear Grylls related...

I had the serious hots for Bear and mistakenly thought he had mad hippy parents who named him after some native american spirit guide, or sommat.

But his name's Edward (Bear, geddit?) and he's called one of his sons Marmaduke.

It's just not the same now...

I'm glad you've seen the light. He's a horrible spoilt toff.

he is fit though . . .

aye, that's the dilemma.

His kid's going to have to be hard with a name like that...

Sadly, BB, his kid won't have to be hard. He'll be at schools where his classmates are called things like Ptolemy.

Bah. He actually owns an island as well, doesn't he...

Do you think it's selfish to go potentially committing suicide up Everest when you have a wife and 2 kids?

Oh god! He is awful - all his stuff is fixed anyway. First thing I saw him do was parachute down into a fast flowing river in the middle of nowhere - camera cut before he landed in the river, next shot was him supposedly climbing out of said river...bone dry and not a hair out of place
Later on he bit the head off a snake then threw up just off camera....don't get the attraction myself

I thought he was incredibly fit and rugged..until I saw him gnawing some raw fish straight from the river. Bit too rugged for my liking.

I can't help it though, I bet he'd be an ace dinner party guest.

See Ray Mears seems a bit more 'real', but he's just not fit!!
(think I may be having a hormone flush. Ignore me)

BB, he would be an atrocious dinner party guest, you'd have to give him raw fish and let him stand under a cold shower while he ate it.

Report
chrissnow · 26/03/2008 21:57

think it's me that needs the cold shower

Report
bohemianbint · 26/03/2008 21:58

LMOA - fair point, but imagine how entertaining that would be? Especially if he got his kit off for the shower...I'd be needing a cold one too

(Sorry, quite pregnant and hormonal!!)

I feel quite out of the loop here; he just doesn't do it for me. I know Ray isn't a hottie but I think if I was in the wilderness, I'd feel a lot safer with Ray than with Bear "Me rough it? Not likely, I'll be spending the night in this luxury hotel" Grylls.

bohemianbint my bro is called Bear (not Edward) and has slightly mad hippy parents!

I'm quite a fan of BG's early achievements, he overcame a lot to be the youngest Briton to get to the top of everest when he did.

It gets worse - his son isn't just called Marmaduke, he's called Marmaduke Mickey Percy. Just think, if he'd only come on here and started a name thread, we could have talked him out of it.

Oh good god. Perhaps it was a post natal touch of madness that inspired it. Jesse got off very lightly eh?
