Third DD

Right, am outing myself totally here. But we can't agree on any names! DD3 due at Christmas. DDs1 and 2 are Isobel Edith and Alice Eleanor. Give me a first-name-middle-name combination that would go with those!

Tess
Mary
Anna
Jean
Sadie
Julia
Gabrielle
Meg

I'd use any if the above for a first name. Middle names we tend to use family names or a second choice first name. If you're looking to continue the E theme as a second name :
Elizabeth
Enid
Emma
Elise
Elsie
Eliza
Elena
Evelyn

Dinah Elisabeth

Ellen Alexandra

Lucy Elizabeth

If you want a name that fits I think it should have the 's'/soft c or z sound in it to match Isobel and Alice.

I'm seeing an AEIOU pattern with an E middle name. You have an A and I so the next logical option is U if you follow the pattern.

So how about Ursula Eden?

It's a good, strong, confident name.

Our current suggestions are

Orla Rose
Rose Olivia
Rose Lydia
Rose Ethel

From your suggestions I like Madeleine Rose (but DH doesn't like Madeleine and it also rhymes with a name we can't use ....); DH loves Tess but I am not keen; I like Gabriella/Gabriella but DH isn't keen; and I really dislike Lucy for some reason.

One problem is that the names we used before had family connections but there's nothing left in our families that we like/can use ... so that 'special' feeling is hard to create!

Olivia Eve or Olivia Esme would fit perfectly.

I was going to suggest Harriet Elspeth. Then you added the shortlist so am struck by how often Rose is mentioned.

To me, Orla Rose stands out but I don't think the combination fits with your other DDs' names.

Your daughters names sound slightly medieval so I'm going to suggest:

Matilda
Philippa
Juliet
Sophia
Georgina
Florence
Penelope
Francesca
Emmeline
Marianne
Beatrice
Louisa

I do think Rose goes well with Isobel and Alice.

Definitely an E middle name.

I think your first names are total classics. So...

Catherine
Lucy
Juliet
Helena

I think Rose is really dull compared with the others, sorry.

I love most of the names on here! But what does Madeleine rhyme with? It's driving me crazy...

Report
allegretto · 05/12/2016 14:24

And I would go for:
Lydia Emma

Sorry, added Lucy before I spotted your later post.

Love pp's suggestion of Harriet.

Madeleine rhymes with ... er ... paddlin'? As in dipping one's toes in the sea.

Report
MrsHathaway · 05/12/2016 14:27

Oooh maybe Catelyn as in Stark.

Madeleine rhymes with line, twine etc to me

Ha ha - basically if you take off the 'M' and take out the 'i' you have my name ....

Also Maddy rhymes with an abbreviation people sometimes use for me and another abbreviation people sometimes use for my husband whose name is classic Irish and begins with P 😂
