Ivan.... hippy type middle name?

I really liked Van as a name but not had positive comments! (See other thread)...
So... I'm looking at Ivan? Any advice, comments on this?
If it's a name I did go for then I would be looking for a nice, soft, hippyish name as a middle name.... I think!
Struggling to find anything that goes with Ivan to be honest. Just having a quick glance I was thinking baby Ivan Valentine or Ivan Rohan... any better suggestions? Not animals or colours really as if we shorten to Van then Van Fox or Van Blue will not be good 😂

I have an Ivan. We thoughy get it was a bit of a risk at the time and not at all popular and I worried a bit would he get mistaken for a Croatian football player (seriously, look up their team) but I am glad we took the risk and Ivan loves his name. He has never met another one. The only ivans I know are 30 and up.
It's a strong, easily remembered, unique name and he's unlikely to have another in his class.

For a middle name, he has a surname (which is also occasionally a firstname). I know what you mean though, a underused name would go nicely.

Immediately makes me think of Ivan Milat... or Ivan the Terrible. Neither of which are great associations.

Sorry. Sad

What about Jonah? I think that's a lovely name, and underused. Goes well w Ivan.

I also think Van is great, but then I am very big on Van Morrison. Call him Ivan officially & Van for short?

You won't want a middle name to begin with a vowel, or it will sound like I've an...

Really great name. Unusual but funky.

Good point by Mavis. Hope your surname does not start with a vowel Smile

I like Ivan. I know one (yes he's in his thirties) and he's a top bloke!

I digress...

How about Ivan Magnus? Sounds strong and awesome.

Ivan Bertram? Sounds cool and intellectual.

Ivan Alexander? Kinda old-world classical, sounds like a conqueror of continents.

Finally, I think Ivan Valentine is nice actually but don't use it if your surname starts with an F.

LOVE the name Ivan, great choice.
My thought was Ivan Rafferty someone else has also suggested it in a big long list. So that's two votes.

I like Ivan, and Van. Van can be a nn for Ivan for sure. Have you considered Vaughn? Very similar but perhaps more 'proper name' for some. (Sorry if it was mentioned in your other thread, haven't read it)

My grandfather was Ivan Walter which I think goes well. Good luck choosing!

I have an Ivan, we've only ever had positive comments about it (apart from my mother who was tipsy when I mentioned the name and said it was an accountant's name Hmm)

I know a 40ish year old Ivan, who is just called Ivan. No silly nicknames.

I prefer your original choice if Van.Smile

I just said on another thread that it doesn't matter what a bunch of strangers think of YOUR choice of name. If you love it, choose it!

It's a name I would have dismissed it from a list but just thinking about it for this thread I realise it's a great name.

When you said hippy I bought about authors or artists so Kipling, Beckett, Dante, Dylan, Homer or something along those lines.
