April for a June baby?

I really like the name April but is it weird to use it for a baby born in June? (Or may if things kick off today/ tomorrow!)

It wouldn't occur to me that someone called April must have been born in April.

Not weird at all. It's a lovely name. Smile

(how many girls with the middle name May are born in May??)

It's a nice name, but I wouldn't...

Good point goldplate, I never thought of that re: May. Maybe I'll call her April May June!

I considered April for DD but she was born in May and I just thought it was a bit silly to call her April.

Obviously most people disagree with me though. Same with Summer / Autumn etc - I wouldn't call a baby born in December either of those names.

It's fine Smile

April is a lovely name.

I posted this exact dilemma a few months ago!
We've moved on from the name but the general consensus on here was that it's fine - and I agree. It's a great name!

I honestly prefer the name June to April. But no, I don't think it's weird to call a June baby April.

I really like Juno which is a bit like June - but that's probably irrelevant! Smile

I like Juno too but I feel like I'm not cool enough to name my child that.

I know a June that was born in April, maybe you could do a birthday swap? :o

It's fine, I can guarantee that not everyone who is called April, May, June or Julie (July :) ) was born in those particular months.

I does strikee me as odd to have a month/ season name and not be born in the associated period but I seem to be in the minority. I suppose May is the exception as sooooo well used as default middle name.

It's such a nice name.
But she might get asked 'were you born in April?' quite a lot.

The name June is a bit old-lady for me. I think of Dot from Eastenders. Juno is nice but trendy so that'd put me off.

April is a very pretty name but I wouldn't use it for a June baby.

I think it's a bit twee to name your baby April, May, June etc if they were actually born in that month so I think it's absolutely fine to name your June-born baby April. I'd think April's parents pretty unimaginative if she was actually born in April...

I like April, but would only use it if she was actually born in April. It just seems a little odd otherwise

I don't think it's weird. April is a name of the month but I think it's a well known girls name too. I met a baby called Autumn the other day and she was born in the winter. And I've met a Holly born in the summer - you'd assume she was a Christmas baby maybe but she was not. Plus I do know a May not born in May - go for it I say.

I have been thinking about this thread and wondering if you like the name Avril
I think it still means April. I know it's probably a stupid suggestion because its a very different sounding name than April, but I just thought I would post anyway.

Best of luck with your baby!

And also I went to school with an Avril and she was really nice too. I just looked it up there and it says it's French for April.

I think April is a pretty name and I think that April, May and June are all now considered names in their own right without people thinking as it being specifically linked to the month. Same with the name Summer, I don't immediately think of the season, I think it's also a girls name.

I'd say go for it. I think it would actually more silly and quite unimaginative if a baby born in April was called April
