DC2 is due in 3 months.

We aren't getting very far with names.

Would welcome suggestions. Want to avoid very popular names as our surname is common.

Names we have on a vague list: Hannah, Helen, Morven, Joseph.

Names only one of us likes, or we both like but can't use for various reasons (close family names, weird rhyming etc): John, Wesley, Stuart, Hope, Eve, Constance, Alexander, Fraser, Cameron, Asa, Daniel.

Neither DP nor I like what we would see as cutesy or faddy names such as Alfie, Olly, Albie, Poppy, Daisy, Ethel etc. Apologies to those who don't share our taste!

Why is it soooo hard!? I think we have DD the only nice name in the world.

What is your DD's name, if you don't mind telling?

So I'm sensing you like quite old-fashioned names but not ones which sound like Victorian servants' names? Also getting a bit of a Scottish vibe with some of your boys names.

Do you like Josephine for a girl?

Lettuce is a Victorian name.

Fair to say we like traditional names and do like, but aren't set on, Scottish names. I am allergic to Struan, which always gets suggested on Mumsnet Scottish threads!

Not too keen on Josephine, but thanks.

No veg based names if possible!

We are much better at identifying names we don't like Hmm

Mm.. Quite like Jane too. But suspect DP won't. Might slip it in in the next discussion.

It could end up being Balonz at this rate.

Mary? Maria? Margaret?

butteredmuffin · 02/05/2016 20:16

Or Verity?

Report
GruffaloPants · 02/05/2016 20:19

I like Mary, I think. Suspect DP won't (again!). He doesn't like Margaret. To be fair, there are loads of his I don't like either.

Anna? Irene? Evelyn?

GruffaloPants · 02/05/2016 20:23

Anna we can't use (family stuff). Neither of us like Irene and Evelyn is too similar to Eve I think. But thanks!

Some great suggestions here, thanks.

Nice to see the love for Hannah and Joseph. They are my current favourites (not having discussed the suggestions here with DP yet).
