Boy's name help!

Hi,
Soon expecting our 3rd child (a boy) and just really struggling with names. We have two girls and even though we didn't know what we were having, they were so much easier to pick! We have a few and wonder what you think:

Artie - would you consider this a name or an abbreviation? I thought about having official name of 'Arthur ' but just using Artie or Art but my Mil would just call him Arthur and it would piss me off!

Zachary/Zachariah

Monty - does this sound like a dog's name?

Seth

Rufus - again, dog's name?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated! We like individual / unusual names that aren't too wacky!
Thanks!

I love Seth!

What about Seb? (Short for Sebastian). Theo? Sonny? I do think Rufus sounds like a dogs name, how about Rueben?

Artie and Seth are my favourites from your list. Artie was on mine as it is (not Arthur).

If it helps others we had in the same box as Artie, were Austin, Ozzy (possibly Oswald nickname Ozzy) and Flynn.

Artie - like if Arthur with Art/Artie as nickname
Zachary - like
Zachariah - great, stronger than Zachary
Monty - wet
Seth - OK
Rufus - like (no, not a dog's name)

I find Artie/Archie type names to be very trendy and are likely to date soon.

I like Zachary and Monty, but find Seth a little lispy sounding.

Reuben is great or how about Quentin or Austin?

I don't like Artie as a full name, too much like a cute nickname.

I love Rufus (not a dogs name). Zachary is fine. Seth is Ok. Not a fan of Monty.

I love Reuben but we have a Ruby so think it is too similar!
Really like Austin. Also like Theo but it's already in the family!
Just been looking at other threads and came across 'Rafe' which I quite like!
Thanks everyone Smile

Artie, or Seth. How about Ben or Seb?

Also, going by your name I assume you are/have an adventure time fan what about Finn? It means fair warrior.

OP I love all your names. According to so many on Mumsnet near every name is a "dogs name" hence a "no no" so just ignore these comments. What were traditional dogs names 100s of years ago really aren't any more, but unfortunately a lot of people here haven't quite grasped that? Hmm

Favourites are Zachary and Seth from your list. Rufus and Monty lovely but bit too posh in feel for me.

I love Seth and Rufus.

Like Artie but not sure about 'just' Artie although I love Alfie and Archie which are no different.

I don't like Monty. It does feel animaly to me.

I like Zachary but it's not a favourite.

I like Seth and Rufus but if you have a Ruby maybe Ruby and Rufus is too much?

Monty makes me think of uncle Monty from Withnail and I.

For some reason I think of Zachary as being very popular even though I actually only know one!

Artie is cute.

I like Monty. Think also of Monty Don and Monty Panasar!

How about Conrad - known but under-used.

I like Artie best of your group (though there are quite a lot of Arthurs around). Rufus is also pretty cool.

I echo another person's suggestion of Leon- v cool and hardly any around!
Or Laurie(Lawrence)?

Good luck!

What about Malachy (nn Mal?), similar in vibe to Zachary but less common?

I love Arthur as well but as it is and not shortened. Sebastian (nn Seb) is another lovely one.

Artie is lovely! How about Sidney? Xx

I like Seth, Arthur and Zachary a lot. I do know dogs called both Month and Rufus, not sure whether it's just local to me but they do seem common as dogs names.

In reply to SweetSuz arsey comment, I don't know much about traditional dogs names from 100 years ago Hmm, so there's nothing for me to grasp. I do know of three dogs (and a cat, incidentally) named rufus, hence my reply to the OP's question.

Hope you find a name you love soon OP!
