What are your thoughts on this name? I'm not bothered by the fisherman/bad luck superstitions and am liking the name more and more.

I love it! I'd never heard of the whole superstition/bad luck thing until we were considering it and my fil mentioned it (obviously I know the bible story though). I think it's a great name and most people won't think it's unlucky!

It's lovely I wouldn't let the story affect your opinion of it most people would never make the connection and even if they did they won't judge such a lovely name for something so silly.

I LOVE it, but DH has forever vetoed it for reasons beyond my ken.

In the Bible story Jonah eventually comes to his senses and goes and does what God tells him. That's kind of why I like it, it's like a reminder that it's ok to cock up and learn from mistakes.

Thanks guys, I think it might be my current favourite. I also love Jude but have a one syllable surname and it doesn't flow so well. I also saw loads of really cute whale themed things in M&S baby section the other day!

It's gorgeous. The whole point of Jonah is that he disagreed with God's plan, went his own way and God still rescued him and found a way to bring him to the place he needed to be. Nothing unlucky about that

I love it but I love loads of old testament names. We very nearly had a baby Jonah but my superstition got the best of me. It's a lovely name. We ended up going for another biblical name.
