Help with our shortlist

We are really struggling to think of names for our baby and only have a few weeks left. We have had names on and off the list constantly but none we are 100% sure on, this is our current list.

Boys

Alfie
Oliver

Girls

Amelia
Olivia
Libby
Jessica

What do you think of these? Can you suggest anything we might like based on these that are maybe a little less popular?

DH isn't keen on biblical names so a lot I've suggested have been ruled out.

I like Oliver and Libby. I loved Libby for DD but Dh wouldn't have it !

I think Libby is possibly DH's favourite on the list. It's so hard when your naming your own, I can think of loads I love for other people but I'm finding it hard to commit to one for ours.

I love both the boys names, but would probably use Alfie as a NN and name baby Alfred. I love Olivia but it's very popular right now. Have you thought about Grace for a girl?

I liked Grace but we know a Grace and a Gracie so didn't really consider it for those reasons.

Alfie - like, but would have Alfred as full name
Oliver - a good classic choice

Amelia - like
Olivia - like
Libby - dislike, too nicknamey and a bit hard sounding
Jessica - quite nice

Albie

Frida

All of your names are very popular if you look at the Ons statistics.

I adore the name Oliver but every baby /antenatal group I go to has a baby Oliver. I'm not a fan of Alfie.

I like Jessica from your girls list. Other suggestions

Thomas
Jacob
Daniel

Shannon
Jasmine
Lydia

I know Luna they are all popular (perhaps with the exception of Libby) we seem drawn to popular names though. I have a popular 80s name and I hated it so definitely don't want anything that will date or seem faddy.

I like Lydia, and Jacob from your list (DH says no to Jacob) I quite like Thomas but can't use it.

I really like Oscar & Thea that were suggested too. DH says no to Thea as there's a family rift with a Dorothea so that wouldn't go down too well.

What about Liberty as nickname for Libby?

I really like Alfie and Jessica too.

Sorry op, in hindsight my post sounds Really harsh - it was just meant to be an observation rather than an insult. Most people like popular names, it's why they are popular. I apologise.

Your post isn't at all harsh, don't worry! We knew they were popular which is whats stopping us fully deciding on them, DH isn't as fussed about popularity but it slightly concerns me more so I'm holding back from them.

Albert/Albie - my nephews name, people love it and always comment on how much they like it
Stanley - was first choice for DS but friends had a boy called Stanley while I was pregnant

Effy - this was DS' name should he have been a girl
Imogen - always been a favourite of mine
