Hi, as the title says, which spelling please. I think Lilly but thought I'd check I'm in the majority. The last one I'd never thought of till I saw it on a names list.

Thanks.

If you choose a different spelling please please don't come back on here in a few years time complaining about all the people who spell your DD's name wrong Grin

Lily,

If I saw the other two, I would assume they are supposed to be different to Lily & would probably think they said Lie-Lee

As a standalone name, Lily (like the flower)

Lillie is a nn to me eg Lillie Langtry whose real name was Emilie

My dd is Lily and the other spellings make me cross quite frankly. As Boudica said, it just looks like you don't know how to spell.

Lily, like the flower. That's what the name is - a flower name.

Lilly makes me think of the coffee brand (Illy).

DS went to school with a girl called Lilie, which looks like Lie-lee to me. (Not that I was rude enough to say that to her, or her parents.)

I have an ordinary name, spelled in an unusual way. It is a PITA. It's not like having a name that can be spelled a couple of different ways, like Elisabeth/Elizabeth. You have to spell it out, all the time, and people constantly get it wrong, so you don't get emails, etc.

Never spell a name in a way that will mean your child saying "No, Lily with a double L" every day of her life. Some names do have alternative spellings their owners have to life with- don't create one where there is no need!

Ahhhh, well that's sounding like I really do have the wrong spelling then. I'm so glad I asked! I don't know any Lily's so never really thought about it before. Thank you!

It's a lovely name. We would have used it, but our names have to sound good in a very broad Yorkshire accent, and I didn't like the way Lily would have sounded in Bradford!

Lily definitely.

Lilly to me always looks wrong.

And Lillie feels like a nickname. But maybe that's because I knew a girl called Emily who shortened her name to Lillie.

For the name I would spell it like the flower.

Also, I am not sure but I think the spelling Lilly is from Lillian (i.e. it was originally only used as a nickname). It's your choice and they're all ok spellings but I think Lily would be the easiest as it's what most people would write, so you can do less correcting.
