Hi ladies! Smile So I'm a little premature looking at this as only 5+5, but DH and I are looking at names already.

We have some ideas, but can you give me any more that are similar to these?

And what do you think of Mallory - weird or not weird?!

GIRLS:
Sophie
Grace
Alice
Margaret (Maggie)
Mallory
Katherine (Kitty)
Georgina (Georgie)
Isabel
Miranda
Matilda
Eliza

BOYS:
Charlie
Laurence
William
George
Alexander
Leo
Luke
Toby
James

Thanks! Smile

Mallory is lovely though. Much better than some of the very common names yu have listed. My DS's schools are full of Alex, George, William, Charlie etc

I liked Horatio though so what do I know! Our greatest sea captain!

Was completely overruled

What about Valerie?

burgatroyd yes I know, I deliberately kept quiet on that as I wondered whether a lot of people would know that. I'm umm-ing and ah-ing over the name for that very reason, but I just find it so pretty!

And thanks all of you Smile I know some of the names, boys' names in particular, are really common. Annoyingly, I've always liked them and I think some - particularly George, thanks to Wills and Kate Hmm - have just got way more popular in the last few years... any ideas for less common boys' names that are still similar to the above would be much appreciated!

Mallory does not sound pretty.

Sorry, but Mallory makes me think of Enid Blyton jolly-hockey-sticks school yarns: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malory_Towers Or else of mountaineer George Mallory who died on Everest and whose tragic frozen body was found decades later. A very brave man, but undeniably male not female.

Definitely not Mallory.

Out of your list for girls I particularly like Matilda (Mattie or Tilly?), Alice and Georgina. Other options could be Martha (again, Mattie?) or Audrey.

I love Mallory - look, sound and feel ... but the meaning, no, that rules it out for me.
Reminds me of Family Ties with Michael J Fox.

Mallory seems more like a boy's name to me, but the meaning would put me off.

From your girl's list, Miranda is my favourite by far - love it!
From your boy's list, my favourites are Toby and Luke.

Mallory for a girl - terrific! Go for it!
Laurence for a boy, from your list - all the others are fairly over-popular at the moment.

I love Mallory, didn't know the meaning.
How about devising your own meaning? There are beautiful trees in TLOTR, called Mallorn trees, for example.

I really like Laurence, but not Mallory at all, especially for a girl. I like Miranda best of your girls list.

Howdy sweets :) Love that you are picking names!

I really like Mallory, I do think of Mallory towers but also West Wing where Mallory is an extremely intelligent, confident and beautiful young lady, definitely a good role model!

Out of the boys names Leo is my fav, this it's a lovely name and the Leo I know is one of the nicest guys I have met :) I always judge names on people I know with them!
