I have a 4 year old one. I've never met another, but I have met 2 younger Alex's that are just Alex.

Lovely name, I might well have chosen it for one of the DSs if it didn't go horribly with my surname...
I know two, one usually uses the full form but also sometimes Alex, and the other is a Xander.

DS claims there are 5 Alexes/Alexas/Alexanders in his class. Mind you. DD has three Maisies in hers and I've never met another one anywhere.

I haven't met one since high school. I love the name, and am still annoyed that DP ruled it out!

I really like Alexander (although it's my brother's name, so I'm slightly biased!). I'm a teacher, and while I've taught a steady stream of Alexanders, it's far from being one of the most common names I've come across. Certainly not on the scale of Thomas/Joshua/Jack, where you risk having several in a class. Obviously all the similar girls' forms mean that there are plenty of Alexes about though!

I know a two-year-old Alexander whose brother is Sebastian.

my DH is Alex. have taught one in my teaching career so I wouldn't say it's too popular. and it's an excellent name :)

It must depend on area because there are loads where I am. I'm a nanny and there was a time when out of a group of 8 nannies I was the only one who didn't look after an Alex or Alexander! They did vary in age from a few months up to 9 years though.

We used to go to a playgroup where there were 5 Alexander's, 2 Ava's and 2 Eva's. The 'hello' song was a nightmare.

At school there is 1 or 2 in each of my DC's class.

It's a lovely name though and pretty timeless.

Not common around here especially not for little ones. But if you love a name use it. There are bunch of kids around the same age as ds2 with his name, makes no difference.

Lovely, timeless name. I want to use it but my DH isn't keen. I know 2 people called Alexander. One is 36, the other is about 9. As I said, timeless.

Love the name Alexander, but I too have previously been put off by how popular it is on the Yearly stats; however, I very rarely come across one :-/

If we have another boy (we have two), I think we'll most likely end up using it as I do think if you like a name, it's best just to go with it!
