Male version of Angela

A very close family member recently passed away and I would love to include her name somehow into unborn ds middle name. Her name was Angela so could I have suggestions for male versions? We haven't thought of a first name yet but will go off the middle name. Thanks

I know a grown-up man (ie named before Buffy was invented, also non-hippy parents) who is called Angel as a first name. It is apparently a common male name in Spanish-speaking countries, which is where I think he got it from.

Baby Name sites give Anjelo as a variant, along with Deangelo and Michelangelo.

Angel is another option, but I always associate it with Buffy - others may not, especially in the future. I think it works as a middle name.

Italian Angelo, as mentioned. Ángel is a Spanish male name.

Angel is a male character in the novel Tess of the D'urbervilles. Admittedly not a very nice one, as it turns out.

However, I get the impression Angel is used these days among English speakers in the US as a girl's name, instead of Angela.

My Spanish cousin is Angel which is the male of Angela. It's pronounced An hell. When he was little he was called Angelito the ito bit meaning little.

After looking at reversing Angela, how about Galean? Apparently a feminine name but I doubt many have heard of it and I think it sounds more masculine. And is the same name (same meaning) as Gaelan and Galen which is masculine.

For example Thomas Galean Jones sounds quite nice to me.

I've only ever come across two. One (Irish, IIRC) pronounced his name 'Malakee'; the other (American) also used the hard k sound, but rhymed it with 'eye'.

Indeed -- Malachi (eye) is how you pronounce the OT name. The Irish name is Malachi (key).

I had a distant Irish ancestor who had Michaelangelo as a middle name.
