8 days to go and only got a short list together a few days ago! We are trying to agree on a boys name - brother for Molly. Also, we quiet like Celtic names as we are Irish and Scottish.

Current short list:
Struan
Killian/Cillian
Aidan
Callum
Alastair

Thoughts or alternatives welcome!
Many thanks.

Struan? I thought that was what Ozzies call themselves

Struan is nice.

I like Aidan better - but then I'm biased, my ds is one!

I've always liked the name Struan.

I'm also Scottish and think Struan is a lovely name...I'm surprised it isn't more popular!

I LOVE Struan and my DP won't even entertain it. It has been my number one future baby name for years and he refuses to even consider it, he thinks it's awful. Everyone I've met has either really liked it or hated it, it's definitely a "marmite" name. I also love Rhuaridh, Callum and Lewis but he hates them too.

Love Struan! It was my top choice for DC2 had she been a boy. I have heard of one or two round here (central Scotland) so it's not unheard of but unlikely to ever be very common...

Good choice. Also like Lewis, Aidan and Alasdair.

All the names on your short list were on mine too (except for Alastair - that's because there are many ways to spell it and I wasn't keen on the nn Ali).

My favourite from your list would be Struan or Cillian

I really like it, but people kept saying it sounded like "strewn". And I live in Scotland Hmm

Sorry that made no sense.

I meant I was considering it for DS and people put me off

I really like Struan, and I like Alastair too.

I've never heard this name before and when I read the title I immediately thought of apple strudel...

It's not a bad sound, I guess. I much prefer Stuart though.

Callum and Alastair are good.

I think I used to like Cillian, but I realised the other day that my OH's DF is called Ian, so if we used it we'd just be saying Kill-Ian - kill grandpa - all the time and now I can't take it seriously :P

Aidan's nice, but it's overused.

Many thanks ladies! Will stick with Struan and Alistair, (though not sure about Molly and Ali... ) I do also like Aidan but its very popular in ireland and I hd several Aidan's in my class at school in the 70s..

Lol squeak re: kill-Ian!

Might yet be a girl, but we more or less agree on those...(Aoife, cara, Juliet)

I love it, but my all-time top Scottish name is Innes. Or Fearghal on the Irish side.

Love it. We were still swithering between Struan and Ruairidh when I was 12 days over. Went with Ruairidh and middle name Alasdair in the end but I'm holding Struan (and Iona as our as yet unused girls name!) in reserve for when DH lets me have no 3. We have an Angus too. Good luck.
