Rae

We are considering the name Rae if we have a girl and wondered what others thought?
We do like names that are different but due to our long surname only want a maximum of a 4 letter name.
This would be our third girl and have used our favourites.
Any thoughts?

And there's Rayanne, the cool friend in 'My So Called Life'...And Rae from 'My Mad Fat Diary'.

Rachel means ewe, and on one baby name site it said that therefore, Rae meant lamb. Gorgeous!! Or it can be the feminine form of Ray if you have a liking for Scottish names.

I have seen Rae get dissed on this site as a filler name alongside Mae/May/Rose etc. but I think it has a lovely sound and looks lovely written down too (especially in a swirly font - we have this on a personalised baby picture). It really goes with DD2's first name. I adore short names that can be both sweet and serious. So whatever your daughter's personality it should fit.

I love this name for a girl! I suggested this to hubby with our third who turned out to be a boy. :-) It is a really beautiful name.

Love it. Liked it as a shortening for Theresa, though I suspect that might be my dodgy pronunciation of Theresa Grin But a really great name.

pleased to see such positive comments. It's now between Zoo, Pearl and of course Rae. Think we're leaning towards Rae

Glamorous and would age well. Much nicer than Zoo! (Zoe?) and Pearl.
