but think it probably requires a long sensible grown up name too... can't have Elizabeth as one of my other DC's has it for a middle name....

Ladybird Johnson (president Johnsons wife) was really called Claudia. Great name, that.

Nicknames evolve, don't they? And don't have to be relevant? I have a Boo and a Lamb - no real relation to their real names.

Bridget is often Birdie or Bridie in Ireland.

Please don't nickname your child Birdie.

I knew a Birdie when I was a child. It was her nn because she fell out of a window. Her real name was Virginia.

Do you home school? I read a blog about a woman in America who homeschools and her DD is named Lark, and saw an American wife swap episode that featured boys named Hawk and Eagle, also homeschooled.

Maybe a name with "b" in the middle could be called Birdie, like Mirabelle. Robin! There was a thread last week that mentioned Robin

Birdie is what me and my sisters called our vulva when we were small...

It isn't really something I'd go for but I kind of like it. Could be short for Beatrice as well as Bridget and Elizabeth, I love Bridget. It could also work for Liberty and Roberta.
