Naming our 3rd child (3rd little girl)

My husband and I are trying to find a good name for our future daughter. He wants to name her Alice. I think it's too old-fashioned. I honestly haven't heard of anyone named as such nowadays. But he digresses.

Stephen and I always have problems naming our girls. Normally though at this point we have decided on a name. It really helps me bond with the baby while I'm pregnant and the not knowing her name is driving me nuts.

What do you guys think? Is Alice a good name for a child? And if he wins this, what do you think would be a good middle name for Alice? I think Alice Blue could be a good twist for the name.

Our older kids are, Imogen Hazel and Spencer Avery.

Give me some middle name suggestions to go with Alice. Open minded, but we don't like trendy names or anything super common.

I think Alice is beautiful, but actually think it's getting fairly popular at the moment, I wouldn't call it old fashioned at all. I think it goes nicely with your other children's names. Really dislike Blue as mn though, i think its trying way too hard to be quirky and just sounds odd!

How about

Alice Evelyn
Alice Melody
Alice Greta
Alice Joy
Alice Robyn

I'm totally biased because I have an Alice! She's a year old so there are babies out there with the name. It's solidly in the thirties in the top 100 which has meant, for us, that very few people we know are called it but everyone's heard of the name, which we liked.

I also think it goes beautifully with your other children. However, if you don't like it don't go with it. I'm sure someone will be along with some good alternatives

I don't like it for some reason. But it's still a normal classic name. I just personally don't like it that much. I think it's because it ends in an ssssss sound. Just too harsh. I like Joy and Greta are nice from the list above.

Also, wouldn't rule out Alice for Kate and William's baby, if that matters to you.

Alice is a lovely name! I know a five year old Alice, who is gorgeous.

Agree that Alice is quite popular, although I personally only know of one 7yo Alice.

Alicia (a-liss-ee-yah) is a lovely alternative to Alice; one that I think sits well against Imogen and Spencer. To my ears, Imogen and Alice go well but Spencer and Alice not so much. I think that Spencer is a very contemporary sounding girls name, whereas Alice is a solid traditional/classic. Aliciabrings balance between your eldest girls' names, IYSWIM.

There's always the fabulous and underused Alison.

Alia is a good name, too (German, I think?)

Oh, and following from Alia, Ella is also lovely, IMO.

Not keen on Alice Blue, sorry. A bit of a whiplash effect between traditional and new/quirky.

How about:

Alice Amelia
Alice Camille
Alice Jean
Alice Jennifer
Alice Phoebe
Alice Niamh

I'm not usually a fan of variant spellings, but I love the look of Alys.

Are you American? I imagine Alice would be pretty unusual in the US, and would be regarded as very elegant and pretty.

I love Alice :) Timeless :)

I'm not good at suggesting middle names, but I used to have Alice Josephine on my list. From the sounds of it you probably won't like Josephine (I'm not that keen on it tbh :p ) but I always loved that you could call her AJ :D
