Leo - name used in eastenders help!!

For the fun of it (so I thought!) I just googled the name Leo plus our surname (common surname beginning T) and found that the name was the name of an eastenders character from 2004-2005, someone who took a heroin overdose. I'm in such a spin because I've been set on the name for ages (just debating middle names) but I thought it sounded pretty classy.... How wrong was I!!? What would you do in my situation? Use Leo and risk the horrible association or change at this late stage? Advice required along with possible alternatives please. Thanks Flowers

I'd use it anyway. I can't think of who you're talking about and if they were only in EE for such a short period of time so long ago I doubt many,if any, will make the connection :)

Fwiw why not opt for Leon instead? Or Theo which sounds sililar? Depends on how much this revelation will bother/affect u if u kept with Leo...xx

Am not a regular watcher of Eastenders so not a connection I would make besides they must have had 100s of characters since so it wouldn't cross my mind to drop a name because of that. Real life people would make me hesitate, but even then I wouldn't necessarily veto a fave name.

Ummmm.......

Google any name diligently enough and you'll find some unsavoury connections. Would this seriously put you off using the name?? Even with the surname I can guarantee that only a true Eastenders anorak will make the link.

Only regular watchers of Eastenders would make that connection. I don't watch it and wouldn't. I like the name.

I'm an EE regular and had to google to find out who you are talking about and even then I don't really remember him. If you like it use it.

I have a Leo. It isn't that popular around our way which is nice. We receive lots of nice compliments about it.

Nobody mentioned the Enders connection! although I appreciate that it is the combination of the two names matching.

I think a soap character from nearly 10 years ago can probably be ignored. Things like global pop stars or widely known killers etc are probably more recognisable etc.

If you love the name go for it!

I haven't watched EE for years.

You could cover a few bases by going for Leonard, which can be shortened to Leo or Leon.

Whatever name you choose, there's no guarantee it won't turn up as the name of a future YV character. Or pop star. Or murderer Hmm

I watch eastenders and honestly had no idea who you were talking about until I googled. I really wouldn't let that put you off.

Thanks all you've made me feel a but better about sticking with it! Because I never watch Enders as I say I wasn't sure if he was a bit part player or major for that time therefore more memorable! Still or rubble association but really like the name!

If you said Den I would understand but not for Leo. The only thing that would put me off is that the name is so popular. Every other baby I meet is Leo.

Where are you geographically Assajjventress? I know it's popular but I think less so where we are in Scotland.

I watch EE and I had to google to find out who Leo was. I remember him, just. He was a small character that got Darren's (of Darren & Libby, father of Heathers child) twin sister pregnant at 14. I think he was only in a few episodes and wasn't a main character at all.

Leo is a nice name, go with it.
