I was thinking Malcolm for my son. He would be Malcolm Grant. Is this name posh, do you think?

Jumbo or Biff
. Don't think they're posh at all, they're awful...
Agree about Fabian and Julian - great names!

Malcolm is a late middle-aged middle manager in an office name surely?

There is a guy on my estate called jumbo. He is NOT posh.
I think it is hard to say wether a name is posh or not. I know a Malcolm who is nice but not posh.
Really posh boys are always called something like Jumbo or Biff.

Malcolm is a great and underused name and not posh

I'm liking that Magnus is considered posh. Go to Orkney and you might change your mind once you've seen a few Mansies being thrown out of the pub.

Tarquin
I've never met a dog called Ptolemy.

What does 'posh' mean nowadays? If it means classic, elegant and underused then how about these:
Marcus
Sebastian
Tristan
Quentin
Reuben
Vincent
Clement
Nowadays there are so many different names around that the old stereotypes aren't really relevant imo.

I wouldn't say Malcolm was posh. If you want a posh name, how about Ambrose? Or are you trying to avoid one?

"a lot of these are dogs names, apart from Malcolm "
Really? Most dogs round here are called Rufus, Fido, Rex and Oscar!
I think what people mean with 'posh' names are simply classic, elegant underused names, the opposite of 'chav' names.
I'm not keen on the Mal part of Malcolm, but I love Magnus, Maxim or Monty. Or how about Caspian, Fabian or Tristan?
The only Malcolm I know is a nice, but rather dull chap.
I don't think it is a posh name.
The poshest person I was at university with was an OE called Humphrey. Awfully nice chap. Looked a bit like a young Nigel Havers. This was some time ago!!
